How Co-Parenting Apps for Divorced Couples Can Streamline Parenting Time

One of the most anxiety-inducing aspects of divorce is co-parenting. Parents are expected to coordinate their schedules with that of their former spouse’s schedule and their children’s schedules. Last-minute changes to the schedule, and you may not be able to see your children at all. To take away some of the pain associated with maintaining a schedule, some entrepreneurs have developed a variety of phone apps to help you coordinate with your former spouse. These apps range from paid apps to free apps. In this article, we’ll discuss some of the apps and how they work.

OurFamilyWizard

This app was developed by a divorced couple to manage parenting time. Each parent has a separate account, but both parents have access to a shared calendar. The app allows you to track expenses related to the children, store and send messages, and more. The app also comes with a “tone meter” that can gauge whether or not your communications are becoming too heated or heavy on emotions. You can add family therapists to the app as well as other family members, like grandparents, who want to spend time with the children.

Coparently

Coparently is another app that allows you to coordinate visitation schedules with your former partner. Both parents have access to a shared calendar that allows them to note important events and keep track of their visitation schedule. The app allows you to exchange messages with your former spouse without going through a mediator. It can also be used for monitoring expenses related to the children. Parents also have access to a shared directory that contains contact info for therapists, doctors, teachers, and friends.

Parentship

Parentship is similar to the other apps mentioned. It operates on a dashboard that shows you upcoming events and syncs with your Google calendar so you can coordinate your own important events with your children’s schedule. You receive alerts so that you do not miss important dates, and you can create separate profiles for each of your children. It has a useful feature that allows you to store important documents and information such as medical insurance or a social security number.

Should I Invest in a Co-Parenting App?

If you are having difficulties managing time or communication with your former spouse, then having these apps helps you get on the same page, operate off of the same schedule, and improve the lives of your children with a standardized schedule. The better apps will cost money. Some will operate on a one-time fee, while others will be subscriptions. However, they can be extremely beneficial for parents who are failing to communicate appropriately for the benefit of their children.
